Choosing Your Groomsmen

So you are looking to choose your groomsmen? But you are not sure how to go about doing it without hurting a few egos, or not sure who to even choose.

How Many Groomsmen Should You Have?

You can really have as many as you like. In most cases the groomsmen will aslo double as ushers, and they will seat your guests. A good ration for ushers to guests is one usher to 50 guests. The groomsmen will also escort the bridesmaids down the ailse, so it is probably a good idea to keep your groomsmen to bridesmaids ratio the same.

What About Your Brides Brother?

This may be a bit of a tricky one, at the end of the day the choice is ultimately yours, but what happens if your bride has her own ideas of who should be your best man, perhaps her brother or other close family member or friend? I guess although the decision is yours, you will also want to keep your bride happy, and so as long as the two of you don't hate each other, you could always go along with it.

Who Should be Best Man?

The best man is the coverted role, and it is often a difficult decision to make. There are a number of charactoristics you will want your best man to have.

You will want him to have good taste - he will be making the first toast, you wont really want any inappropriate remarks. He will also be the one who is going to look after the rings and carry out a number of different wedding duties. He will also be the one who is organizing your batcholar party, and so you will want him to be full of fun.

When making your final choice, be sure to choose someone who plays an active role in your life, and you definately wont want someone who is going to arrive at your wedding without the rings, or with a monster hangover!
